The TAR UMT community now have access to the Intellect app which provides 24/7 mental health help and support. The app also features a range of self-guided tools, including well-being check-ins, daily exercises, rescue sessions, guided journaling, personalised insights, and structured learning paths, empowering users to take charge of their mental health at their own pace. Users can also connect with qualified mental health professionals to help them in their challenges.

Assoc Professor Dr Chook Ka Joo, Vice President of TAR UMT, during the launch of the app said: “While our university is a vibrant community filled with opportunities for learning and growth, we cannot ignore the growing challenges surrounding mental health and well-being. For students, the transition into university life is a period of profound discovery and transformation, and this can also be challenging. In addition, our dedicated staff also navigate complex professional and personal demands that require constant resilience and support. It is because of these factors that we are taking this proactive step to ensure help is always within reach.”

He further emphasised, “Through the Intellect app, every staff member and student across all our campuses will have access to wellbeing resources to help them develop practical coping strategies anytime, anywhere. We must remember that mental well-being, much like physical health, is something we should nurture consistently as part of our daily lives, rather than only focusing on it during difficult times. Whether one needs professional guidance or simply a quiet moment to check in with oneself, this technological resource—including a 24/7 toll-free helpline—is now available for TARCians. I hope all of us will make full use of this initiative.”

The Intellect app is available for all TAR UMT students and staff on Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store.
